Naturally unique, with geometric shaping, basalt columns are conversation starters in landscape and architectural focal point applications. They lend themselves to drilling for fountains, or as architectural columns. Try grouping them, with varying heights for landscape highlights or as entry gate columns. For interior decorating, basalt is beautiful cut and polished as a pedestal for a powder room sink, or cut lengthwise for counter tops. This last application is stunning, as the color of the stone is a very consistent black throughout and much more dense and durable than the popular granite or stained concrete countertops.
