McGregor Lake

McGregor Lake is a prized variety of the popular Chief Cliff argillite. Quarried from a cliff formation, in beautiful northwestern Montana, the stone is predominately light gray, with strong gold, bronze and tan tones. The dendrite fern patterning creates a striking look. With the warmth of a Big Sky Country sunset and naturally recta-lineal shaping, McGregor Lake is unparalleled in beauty and versatility.

Moose Mountain

The newest quarry to the Chief Cliff family, stone from the Moose Mountain quarry elicits constant compliments. The colors are grounded in a dark, smoky gray, with rich reds, dark chocolate brown and tans that blend together for a remarkable stone. Stone from Moose Mountain marries the colors from the nearby Castle Rock and McGregor Lake quarries, which makes it an excellent choice to blend with our most popular stone. The romance of this Montana, mountain top ridge quarry can be seen, in every stone.

Castle Rock

Castle Rock is a rich, dramatic stone that hails from North Western Montana. A striking color of Chief Cliff argillite, Castle Rock is primarily dark gray, with chocolate brown and light tan tones. The quarry is on a high, alpine, talus slope and the stone yielded has a dark patina and occasionally dark lichen, from exposure to the elements.

Elk Mountain

The sweeping prairies of Central Montana yield a very sought after sandstone…prized for its feel and coloring. This is a fieldstone quarry that produces a soft, tactile stone revered for its neutral coloring, with a preponderance of tan and subtle sage green. Stone from Elk Mountain is naturally flat and rectangular and historically has produced remarkable, large slabs. Frequently, this stone is preferred tumbled, which lends a sense of history with smooth, rounded edges.

Montana Moss Rock

A mossy sandstone from the plains of Central Montana, this stone is ideal for the rustic lodge style, so prevalent in the Rockies. Predominately brown with red undertones. This stone has and green and gray lichen. Sizes and shapes vary from ledge stone to random. Montana Moss Rock is a perfect choice for complimenting your mountain log cabin or dream prairie homestead.

Montana Antique

This stone is an excellent selection, for those wanting to achieve the look of the old west. Montana Antique is an argillite from Western Montana, with predominately dark brown and a hint of red color. The rich color tone works exceptionally well with deep, warm toned wood. For a true Northern Rockies heritage look, try blended with Montana Moss Rock.

Birch Creek Brown

A high quality sandstone from the open plains, this is a very versatile stone. With consistent, warm tan tones and some darkened brown surface patina, Birch Creek Brown is a chameleon stone that can be blended with our Elk Mountain sandstone for a gorgeous look; or it can be used for accent stone, with any of our Chief Cliff series. With beautiful, earthy colors, smooth hand and easy workability, Birch Creek is a favorite among masons.

Montana Gold River Rock

A beautiful, golden, western Montana argillite with a variety of sizes. Hand-picked from dry river beds in the Rocky Mountains they are roundish in shape, yet flat on two sides. The unique color and shape brings a glowing color and smooth, tactile hand to the chosen application.

Pennsylvania Full Color, Lilac and Bluestone

With high durability and density, smooth surfaces, large face values and thin bed depth…Pennsylvania Stone is the premier choice for patios and flooring. As the names suggest, there are many color choices with Pennsylvania Stone. Full color is based in a grayish green, with subtle brown. Lilac tends more towards a brownish, wine color and Bluestone is a bluish gray.
